Wike's Spokesman Challenges Deji Adeyanju Over Abuja Flood Blame

Following recent widespread flooding in Abuja that saw vehicles submerged after heavy downpours, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has publicly challenged lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju. Adeyanju, among others, had attributed the severe flooding to Minister Wike's alleged "greed and lunacy," casting blame directly on the FCT administration.
In a strongly worded statement titled "Deji Adeyanju and his Gang of Flooded Brains," Olayinka accused Adeyanju of exploiting the unfortunate incident to launch an attack against the FCT leadership. He firmly asserted that the issue of flooding in the nation's capital existed long before Wike assumed the role of FCT Minister.
Olayinka acknowledged that intense rainfall indeed led to inundation in certain areas of Abuja over the weekend, but stressed that the floodwaters eventually receded. He further clarified that the FCT Administration is fully cognizant of these challenges and is actively implementing measures to prevent future occurrences. The spokesperson deemed it inaccurate and misleading to suggest that Minister Wike was responsible for "destroying Abuja" simply because of the latest flooding event.
Directly addressing Adeyanju's criticisms, Olayinka stated, "It is funny that characters like this Online Baseless Lawyer, who is always looking for attention, has been shouting ‘WIKE HAS DESTROYED ABUJA’ since yesterday, as if last Saturday was the first time some areas in Abuja got flooded." He then posed a rhetorical question, challenging Adeyanju's logic by asking, "When there was flood in Abuja in 2019, as reported in the media, was it Wike that caused it?" Olayinka concluded by questioning Adeyanju’s grasp of Abuja's complex urban planning issues, disparagingly referring to him as an “Online Baseless Lawyer” who "studied LATE NIGHT LAW," implying a lack of genuine understanding.
