Edo State Speaker Blessing Agbebaku Resigns Amidst Impeachment Moves

The legislative chamber of Edo State has been rocked by a significant leadership change as the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Honourable Blessing Agbebaku, officially stepped down from his role. The resignation, which occurred on Monday, comes amidst reports of ongoing efforts by a faction of the assembly members to initiate impeachment proceedings against him.
Confirmation of Agbebaku's departure was made public through a Facebook post by his media aide, Ivy Adodo-Ebojele. Ms. Adodo-Ebojele indicated that more comprehensive information regarding the reasons and context of his exit would be released at a later time. Her social media statement explicitly read: “EDO ASSEMBLY SPEAKER RT HON CHIEF BLESSING AGBEBAKU RESIGNS.”
This unforeseen development has plunged the Edo State House of Assembly into an immediate leadership vacuum, necessitating the urgent selection of a new presiding officer. Lawmakers are now faced with the task of electing a successor to guide the affairs of the legislative body.
