APM Insists Osun Election Outcome Spells Doom for Tinubu in 2027

The aftermath of the Osun State governorship election has been interpreted by the Allied People's Movement as a sign of impending defeat for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. According to the party, the victory of the opposition in Osun, a state where Tinubu has strong political roots, is a clear indication that the electorate can reject an incumbent political establishment when dissatisfied with its performance. The party's National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, stated that the outcome of the election has exposed the declining support for the All Progressives Congress and the growing demand for a change in leadership at the federal level. The APM believes that the reaction of voters to APC leaders during the election, including the alleged booing of Tinubu's political associates, is evidence of growing public dissatisfaction with the ruling party. The party argued that Nigerians are increasingly prepared to reject the APC at the polls, citing the economic hardship, insecurity, and poor governance as reasons why the Tinubu-led government would not be rewarded with another term. The APM maintained that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who will fly the party's presidential ticket in 2027, has demonstrated the capacity to manage a larger political and economic constituency. The party pointed to the growth of Oyo State's economy under Makinde's administration and the visit of President Julius Bio of Sierra Leone to exchange ideas with the governor as evidence of the growing recognition of Makinde's performance. The APM warned the APC not to contemplate manipulating the 2027 presidential election, stating that any attempt to undermine the will of voters would be resisted. The party congratulated Nigerians on the triumph of their will in Osun and expressed its resolve to challenge the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
