In a significant development, allies of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and supporters of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, are coming together in a bid to reconcile their differences. The move is part of efforts by the Rainbow Coalition's reconciliation committee to foster peace and unity within the political family. According to a statement issued by the Government House in Port Harcourt, the committee, led by Magnus Abe, met with Governor Fubara to deliberate on the modalities for the ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts. This was the second meeting between the committee and the governor in two weeks. The committee assured that all members, regardless of past disagreements, would be treated equally and with respect. Chairman of the committee, Magnus Abe, stated that the meeting was necessary to enable the estranged political leaders to discuss the way forward for the state. Briefing journalists after the meeting, Abe expressed optimism that the people of Rivers State would be pleased with the new direction the state was taking. He said, 'I'm sure that Rivers people will be very curious to understand exactly what we have been talking about. So, I know that this will be very good news for all Rivers people who are interested in the unity, progress and prosperity of Rivers State. We are all in agreement, and we have made very good progress.' The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, South-South Zone, Dr Samuel Nwanosike, who was part of the delegation, thanked Fubara for his openness and willingness to engage in dialogue. 'I'm so excited. The last meeting went well. Today's meeting went extraordinarily well, and it shows clearly to the people of Rivers State that the family is back; sincerely back, and soon, they will see the working of the Rainbow Coalition,' Nwanosike said. Another stakeholder, Chief Ambrose Nwuzi, noted that disagreements were a normal part of human society and that the group had agreed to make peace. 'Our leader has spoken, and our overall leader has equally spoken and accepted that there is a need for all of us to reconcile. I can tell you that we have reconciled. All that we are waiting for is for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to put the seal on the reconciliation process which has been going on for the past few weeks,' he said. Other members of the delegation included the governorship candidate of the APC in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, and Mr Tamosisi Jaja, among others.
