Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has committed to increasing the stipends paid to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state. This assurance came during his visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse, on Monday, coinciding with the passing-out ceremony for the 2026 Batch C Stream corps members.

Governor Namadi stated that the planned increment aims to acknowledge the significant contributions of corps members to the state's development and to alleviate the impact of current economic hardships. He was quoted saying, “We will review up and increase NYSC corpers allowance posted to the state to encourage them to give their best.”

The governor extended his congratulations to the corps members for successfully completing their six-week orientation program and advised them to embody the scheme's values. He also announced an immediate N10,000 transport allowance for each corps member, intended to facilitate their travel to their respective Places of Primary Assignment (PPAs). “We have provided N10,000 transportation allowance to each of you to ease your movement to your places of primary assignment,” Namadi affirmed.

Furthermore, Namadi indicated that the state government would explore the construction of a larger hall at the camp to better accommodate future large gatherings of corps members. He remarked, “We will look at the possibility of construction of a bigger hall at this camp for your large gatherings.” The governor also guaranteed that a more powerful generator would be acquired for the Fanisau NYSC camp to resolve persistent power supply issues. He emphasized that these interventions would significantly improve the welfare and living conditions for both corps members and camp officials. “We will procure a larger generator at the NYSC camp in Fanisau to ensure steady power supply,” he stated.

Earlier, Muhammad Baba, the NYSC Jigawa State Coordinator, expressed gratitude to Governor Namadi for his consistent support to the scheme. Baba confirmed that the Batch C corps members had undergone thorough training and demonstrated commendable character and learning, making them ready for their primary assignments. He stated, “These corps members have completed the mandatory orientation course and are ready to contribute to the development of Jigawa State.” The coordinator specifically thanked the governor for the transport allowance and the various improvements at the camp. He urged the state government to maintain its support to help the NYSC achieve its objectives. Baba also encouraged the corps members to respect the local cultures of their host communities and actively contribute to their progress.
