Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State extended his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the citizens of Ekiti, and all Nigerians for their immense support and well wishes received during his inauguration for a new term last Friday. On the same occasion, he reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring widespread prosperity across the state throughout his tenure. Oyebanji expressed that he felt “deeply humbled by the overwhelming show of love, solidarity and goodwill that accompanied the historic occasion.” This message was conveyed in a press release issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, on Sunday in Ado Ekiti.

The governor further stated that the successful swearing-in ceremony signified the commencement of an additional period of dedicated service to the Ekiti populace. He reiterated his government's resolve to expand upon the accomplishments of its initial term and to implement strategies and initiatives aimed at fostering collective prosperity, comprehensive development, and enhanced living conditions for every resident of the state. Oyebanji declared, “Together, we shall continue to work towards shared prosperity for all Ekiti citizens and make our dear state the number-one destination of choice for those seeking a place to live, work, invest and relax.”

Oyebanji specifically acknowledged President Tinubu, saying, “We owe Mr President a huge debt of gratitude for his love and support for Ekiti State. The impact of his policies and the resources made available to subnational governments have contributed significantly to the achievements recorded by our administration.”

Appreciation was also extended to Vice President Kashim Shettima for gracing the inauguration on behalf of the President and overseeing the proceedings. The governor pointed out that this marked the Vice President’s third visit to Ekiti State in 2026. Additionally, Oyebanji thanked Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Senator Jibrin Barau, All Progressives Congress National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and members of the party’s National Working Committee for their backing and attendance at the significant occasion.

The governor further acknowledged the presence and support of various state governors and deputy governors, alongside past governors of Ekiti State, including Niyi Adebayo, Ayodele Fayose, Segun Oni, and Dr. Kayode Fayemi. He also expressed gratitude to former governors from other states, as well as National and State Assembly members who honoured the event with their attendance.

The Ekiti State judiciary, led by Chief Judge Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye, also received his appreciation for their backing. Justice Ogunmoye was specifically commended for administering the oaths of office and allegiance during the ceremony. Furthermore, retired Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Oyebisi Omoleye, was thanked for her attendance and support.

Finally, Oyebanji extended his gratitude to traditional rulers, notably the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu-Alagbado; and the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejuyigbe. His appreciation also went to other distinguished personalities, political figures, and even co-contestants from the 2026 Ekiti governorship election who graced his inauguration.
