The City Boy Movement has expressed its delight following the inclusion of several of its key figures, including leaders, stakeholders, and members, in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council. These appointments are in preparation for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The group highlighted that these roles encompass positions across its Co-Patrons, Governing Board, National Working Committee, Deputy Directors-General, and various grassroots leadership tiers.

In a statement released on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, the movement affirmed that the appointments underscored the extensive representation of its members within the Council. Specifically, Ayodele Olawande, who serves as a co-patron of the movement, has been designated as the Director for the Council’s Directorate of Youth Mobilisation. Furthermore, Francis Shoga, the movement's Director-General, secured the position of Secretary II within the Directorate of Support Group Mobilisation.

O’tega Ogra, the Deputy Director-General responsible for Media, Communications, and Public Affairs for the City Boy Movement, was also named to the Directorate of Media and Strategic Communications. The statement further indicated that numerous other leaders, key stakeholders, and members, drawn from its national, zonal, state, and local government structures, have also received various appointments within the Council.

Reacting to the development, Mr. Shoga characterised the appointments as a crucial milestone for the movement. He viewed them as a vital opportunity for its members to contribute more directly to the preparatory efforts for the APC’s campaign.

He stated, “These appointments are significant for the City Boy Movement and the many individuals who have committed their time, energy and resources to building and strengthening our structures across Nigeria. We appreciate the confidence reposed in our members and congratulate everyone entrusted with these responsibilities. The appointments reflect the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and contributions of individuals who have helped sustain the movement.”

Shoga further elaborated on the movement's role, describing it as an inclusive platform uniting supporters of President Tinubu from various political and social backgrounds. He affirmed, “We remain committed to working constructively with the APC, the Presidential Campaign Council, and other support groups towards our shared objectives.”

Similarly, O’tega Ogra offered his perspective, asserting that the appointments highlighted the critical role of continuous grassroots engagement and the combined efforts of members instrumental in establishing the movement's national footprint.

Ogra remarked, “Behind the growth of the City Boy Movement are dedicated individuals who have invested their time, resources, and personal effort in building relationships, mobilising communities and strengthening our structures across the country. It is encouraging to see many of these individuals entrusted with responsibilities within the Presidential Campaign Council. These appointments also come with responsibilities. As we take on our respective roles, our focus must remain on effective coordination, responsible communication, and constructive collaboration with the APC and other stakeholders. We are committed to bringing our organisational experience and grassroots networks to bear in the collective effort ahead.”

The movement extended its congratulations to both the leadership and members of the newly inaugurated council. It also conveyed its gratitude to President Tinubu and the APC leadership for the trust placed in its appointees. Reaffirming its steadfast support for President Tinubu and his "Renewed Hope" agenda, the City Boy Movement declared its readiness to leverage its nationwide networks, extensive grassroots experience, and robust organisational capacity to contribute to the collective efforts leading up to the forthcoming elections.
