Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, widely recognized as KWAM 1, has become a talking point following the emergence of a video showing him formally presenting his daughter, Damilola Marshall, to Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate. The trending footage captures the veteran musician calling his daughter, also known as Dami Marshal, forward before declaring to Hamzat, "I hand her over to you." Dr. Hamzat responded to the gesture with laughter, then directed Damilola to her seat, while the lawyer herself appeared amused by her father's public action.

The video, which gained traction on social media this past Sunday, shows KWAM 1 singing in Yoruba as he made this move, interpreted by many as a lighthearted yet significant endorsement of his daughter's political aspirations. Damilola Marshall has declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, aiming to represent Surulere Constituency II in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Her political ambition was first announced on March 17, 2026, through a post on her personal Instagram page, where she expressed her readiness to serve the constituency. In her declaration, she stated, "I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly." The legal professional highlighted that her 12 years of experience in legal practice have equipped her with a deep understanding of governance, justice systems, and the specific needs of her community. Furthermore, she committed to representing the youth, affirming her preparedness to lead and serve should she be elected. Currently, Damilola, the daughter of the celebrated Fuji star, holds the position of Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tourism.
