Elma Aveiro Slams Portugal Over Cristiano Ronaldo's National Team Exit

Full Story
Elma Aveiro, sister to global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, has publicly voiced her strong displeasure with Portugal after her brother’s recent departure from the national team’s training camp. Taking to Instagram, Elma sharply criticized how the Al Nassr forward has been treated, arguing that the nation shows insufficient appreciation for its top talents.
In her candid post, she wrote, “CR7 deserved more respect. The national team deserved more structure.” Aveiro further extended her condemnation to the country's media and populace, stating, “Portuguese journalism deserved more competence and less speculation. As for the Portuguese people, well… they don’t deserve to have the best at anything. We are envious, disdainful, and ignorant.”
The controversy stems from Cristiano Ronaldo's decision to leave the Portuguese squad following a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus. This occurred after Ronaldo was benched during Portugal's UEFA Nations League triumph against Norway on Sunday. Since the incident, Ronaldo has traveled to Madrid and is expected to miss Portugal's upcoming fixtures.
