Kano Governor Abba Yusuf Charges 1,500 Newlywed Couples to Embrace Patience and Justice

The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has advised the 1,500 couples who recently benefited from the state's mass wedding programme to establish their marital foundations on the principles of patience, justice, mutual respect, and understanding. This call was made by the governor while addressing the newlyweds, as stated in a release issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday. According to Governor Yusuf, marriage should be viewed as an act of worship, and as such, should be conducted in line with the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad. 'Marriage is an act of ibadah and should be conducted in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW),' the governor emphasized. He further urged the couples to respect one another, uphold fairness in their homes, and ensure peaceful coexistence, as these are essential components of building strong families. 'I urge you to respect one another, uphold justice and fairness in your homes, and ensure peaceful coexistence as you begin this new chapter of your lives,' the governor said. Governor Yusuf also encouraged the newlyweds to apply the lessons they learned during their pre-marital counselling sessions, as these would be instrumental in helping them navigate the responsibilities that come with family life. 'Make sure you put into practice the lessons you received during the pre-marital counselling sessions, because patience, understanding and mutual respect are essential to sustaining a peaceful home,' he added. The governor prayed for Allah's blessings upon the marriages and for the couples to be blessed with righteous children who would contribute positively to their families, society, and humanity. The mass wedding, which was coordinated by the Kano State Hisbah Board and took place on Friday, was part of the state government's social intervention efforts aimed at supporting vulnerable residents and easing the financial burden associated with marriage.
