Osun APC, Accord Party Bicker Over Shooting Incident at Ilesa Rally

A recent street rally in Ilesa, Osun State, turned violent when at least three people were injured in a shooting incident. The rally, organized by the Ilesa West Local Government Area chapter of the All Progressives Congress, was disrupted by the shooting, which occurred near the Isokun area of Ilesa. According to eyewitnesses, a 14-year-old boy, Tobi Ilesanmi, was among those injured in the incident. The Osun State Police Command has confirmed that three people were injured in the shooting, which was allegedly perpetrated by operatives of the Amotekun Corps. The police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, stated that the incident occurred when a vehicle bearing an official Osun State Government number plate, OSHAO4, was seen parked beside the rally venue. Some people identified as Amotekun personnel allegedly emerged from the vehicle and started shooting sporadically, causing panic and chaos. The police have arrested the Osun State Commissioner for Environment, Mayowa Adejoorin, who was reportedly passing through Ilesa after the incident. Adejoorin was brought to the Osun State Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Osogbo for questioning. The Head of the APC Campaign Council for Ilesa West, Folarin Fafowora, explained that the rally was about to conclude when the incident occurred. Fafowora claimed that a car overtook the rally venue, and the occupant, Hon. Wale Akerele, was seen embracing people before the shooting started. The spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has reacted to the allegations against Akerele, stating that the video of the Ilesa shooting is available, and it shows members of the APC shooting and destroying properties belonging to the Accord Party. The incident has led to a blame game between the APC and the Accord Party, with both parties accusing each other of being responsible for the violence.
