In a significant move, the Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS), a political pressure group loyal to Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara, has declared its unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Family and the Rainbow Coalition, led by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. This announcement also extends the group's backing to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Hon Kingsley Chinda, and all APC candidates. The decision to align with the new political family is seen as a strategic move, following Fubara's earlier decision to return to the political family that produced him as governor of the state. Sotonye Toby-Fulton, the convener of the group, made this declaration during the group's monthly prayer meeting, urging members to accept the decision in good faith and in the interest of peace in the state. Toby-Fulton emphasized the importance of unity, stating, 'As women who have decided to be politically active, we must accept our fate. We’ll remain united. You can’t say you stand with Fubara and go at the back saying something different.' The group's leader expressed gratitude to the women for remaining faithful to the cause and praying for the peace of Rivers State, which, according to her, averted the predicted bloodshed in the state. Adata Bio-Briggs, a member of the group and former state chairperson of the Federated Association of Women Lawyers (FIDA), also expressed satisfaction with the move, saying it will ensure the peace existing in the state is sustained. Another leader, Mrs Atonye Green, welcomed the governor's decision, citing his love for the women of the state as a reason for their unwavering support. With this declaration, all known Fubara structures have fully aligned with the Rainbow Coalition and Renewed Hope Family led by Wike, marking a significant development in the state's political landscape.
