Lagos Residents Get Dedicated Space to Report Traffic Issues to LASTMA

In a move to further enhance transparency and accountability, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has launched a Physical Complaint Centre. Located at its headquarters in Oshodi, this centre provides a platform for the public to report traffic-related concerns, lodge complaints, and make enquiries about the conduct of LASTMA personnel. This development is part of the agency's ongoing efforts to promote citizen-centred service delivery and is seen as a significant step towards improving public trust. The establishment of the Physical Complaint Centre comes on the heels of the inauguration of LASTMA's 3367 toll-free call centre, which has been operational since June 28, 2026. Between June 28 and July 29, 2026, the call centre recorded a total of 2,843 public engagements, comprising 1,047 enquiries, 709 commendations, 400 reports of road accidents and vehicle breakdowns, 163 formal complaints, and 11 information requests. Out of these, 468 cases were successfully resolved, while 45 calls were unsuccessful due to various technical issues. The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, highlighted the importance of the Physical Complaint Centre, stating that it will provide an avenue for face-to-face interactions with the public, complementing the agency's digital reporting channels. 'The Physical Complaint Centre complements our 3367 Toll-Free Call Centre by providing members of the public who prefer face-to-face engagement with a convenient platform to report traffic-related concerns, seek clarifications and lodge complaints regarding the conduct of our officers,' he explained. Mr Bakare-Oki assured that every complaint received will be treated with utmost seriousness and investigated in accordance with established administrative procedures and the principles of natural justice. The response to the toll-free call centre has been overwhelming, with the public showing growing confidence in LASTMA's operations. According to Mr Bakare-Oki, this response is a testament to the agency's commitment to operational excellence, institutional integrity, administrative transparency, and service delivery anchored on the highest standards of professionalism. He reiterated LASTMA's zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, extortion, misconduct, and abuse of office, assuring that any officer found culpable after due investigation will face disciplinary action in line with the Public Service Rules and the agency's disciplinary framework. The General Manager urged the public to take advantage of both the Physical Complaint Centre and the 3367 toll-free hotline to report traffic emergencies, seek information, and provide feedback that would improve traffic management across Lagos.
