The Kwara State administration has given its nod for the financial provisions required for the 2025 promotion cycle affecting eligible teaching and non-teaching personnel within the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM). This significant step, aimed at guaranteeing that deserving staff receive their promotion entitlements, was confirmed by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The approval was made public on Tuesday through a statement from Bola Onile, the Press Secretary for TESCOM. The statement highlighted the government's dedication to boosting staff welfare, morale, and professional advancement, especially for those under TESCOM.

Reacting to this development, Bello Abubakar, the Executive Chairman of TESCOM, extended gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq. He praised the Governor's consistent backing for the education sector and his focus on the well-being of teachers and other commission staff, stating: “The approval is yet another demonstration of His Excellency’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and ensuring that deserving officers enjoy the benefits of their promotions as and when due.”

Abubakar further recalled that the current administration inherited a substantial backlog of unpaid promotion arrears, spanning from 2015 to 2020. He pointed out that Governor AbdulRazaq has since sanctioned both the execution of these promotion exercises and the necessary cash backing for all promotions from 2015 up to 2025. “When His Excellency came into office, there were backlogs of unapproved promotion arrears from 2015 to 2020. He approved the conduct of the promotion exercises and the cash backing for the promotions from 2015 to 2025, making him the only governor in the history of the state to do so,” Abubakar affirmed.

The TESCOM Chairman assured all qualified staff members that the commission would promptly initiate the administrative procedures essential for the smooth implementation of the newly approved promotion cash backing, adhering strictly to government protocols. He stated: “The commission will immediately commence the necessary administrative processes to ensure the seamless implementation of the approved promotion cash backing in line with established government procedures.”

He encouraged teachers and other personnel to maintain their dedication, discipline, and commitment to their roles, emphasizing that the present government would continue to acknowledge and reward diligence, professionalism, and exceptional service. “We encourage all members of staff to remain dedicated, disciplined and committed to the discharge of their responsibilities. The present administration will continue to reward diligence, professionalism and excellence in service,” the TESCOM chairman reiterated.

Abubakar reaffirmed TESCOM's commitment to upholding fairness, transparency, and efficiency in carrying out its statutory duties. He expressed optimism that this latest approval would significantly boost staff morale and lead to enhanced service delivery across public secondary schools throughout the state.
