The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has challenged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to strive for excellence and leave a lasting legacy in their host communities. This charge was given during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch B, Stream I Orientation Course, which took place at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Nsit Atai Local Government Area. Eno, who was represented by the Director of Youth Development in the Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Emmanuel Akpabio, emphasized the need for the corps members to build on the achievements of their predecessors and contribute positively to the growth and transformation of the state. He described Akwa Ibom as a peaceful and hospitable state, urging the corps members to integrate with their host communities while respecting their cultural values and aspirations. The governor also advised the corps members to play a crucial role in sensitizing residents on their civic responsibilities, adding that their educational background and acquired skills qualify them to pursue these ideals. Furthermore, Eno warned the corps members against the dangers of night travel, advising them to always board vehicles at designated motor parks and to share their travel plans with friends and family members. He reminded them that the security agencies' emergency contact numbers are available in the security tips issued to them, and they should make use of these numbers whenever necessary.
