Bauchi Mourns: Health Agency Head, Four Children Perish in Fatal Crash

Bauchi State is currently in a state of profound grief following the tragic passing of Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA). Alhaji Duguri, along with four of his children—Hajara, Usman, Rukayya, and Maryam—reportedly lost their lives in a devastating motor accident on Saturday evening. The incident occurred at Yalwan Duguri within the Alkaleri Local Government Area.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, Fnipr (Kauran Daular Usmaniyya), expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences on behalf of his family, the state government, and the entire people of Bauchi. The Governor conveyed his profound sadness over the circumstances of the incident, extending sympathy to the bereaved family, the Duguri Emirate Council, friends, colleagues, and all citizens of Bauchi State.

In his statement, Governor Mohammed also offered prayers for the swift recovery, strength, and comfort of Suleiman, another son of Alhaji Duguri, who reportedly survived the accident. He described the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri as an immense loss, particularly for Bauchi State's health sector. The Governor highlighted Duguri's distinguished service, dedication, and unwavering commitment to improving healthcare access for residents.

As the Executive Secretary of BASHCMA, Alhaji Duguri was instrumental in advancing the state's health contributory management system and ensuring healthcare accessibility, especially for the less privileged. His commitment also extended to his contributions to the state's medical team during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia, where his dedication to pilgrims' well-being was highly valued.

Beyond his professional achievements, Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri was a close personal friend and classmate of Governor Bala Mohammed. His passing is therefore not just the loss of a revered public servant but also the painful departure of a beloved family member and trusted companion, whose life was characterized by service, loyalty, and dedication to humanity.

The Governor acknowledged the heartbreaking nature of losing four young members from the same family in a single tragic event, noting that words cannot adequately convey the pain of the bereaved family. Governor Mohammed prayed that Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, would forgive the deceased's shortcomings, accept their good deeds, and grant Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri and his beloved children eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

He further prayed for strength and fortitude for the surviving son, Suleiman, the immediate family, the Duguri Emirate Council, friends, associates, and the entire people of Bauchi State to bear this monumental loss. The Governor urged all well-meaning citizens of Bauchi State to remember the bereaved family in their prayers and offer them compassion and solidarity during this period of profound grief.

Funeral prayers for the deceased are scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 11:00 am at the palace of the District Head of Yalwan Duguri.
