Abia Police Station Attacked: Two Officers Killed, Three Wounded

An armed assault on the Uratta Divisional Headquarters in Aba, Abia State, resulted in the deaths of two senior police officers and injuries to three others. The incident, which occurred around 2 AM on Saturday, October 17, saw assailants deploy explosives to damage a section of the police facility. Reports indicate the attackers also set fire to the station's patrol vehicle and maintained their operation unchallenged for nearly an hour.

Maureen Chinaka, the Public Relations Officer for the Abia State Command, officially acknowledged the attack, stating that at approximately 02:26 AM, the division was targeted with explosives. This led to a fire that caused damage to a portion of the building and the station's patrol vehicle. Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police for Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, personally led a tactical operational team to the scene.
