Imo State Police Liberate 10 Kidn*pped NYSC Corps Members; Manhunt Continues

The Imo State Police Command has successfully rescued ten National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were abducted by gunmen. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 1, along the Owerri-Onitsha Road.
Twenty corps members, en route to their orientation camps in the South-East and South-South regions from Ibadan, Oyo State, were travelling in commercial buses when they were seized by the assailants. Following the abduction, the command's spokesperson, SP Henry Okoye, confirmed that tactical teams and operational assets were promptly deployed in collaboration with other security agencies.
This swift action led to the recovery of both commercial buses and the rescue of ten victims at the scene. SP Okoye further stated that the rescued individuals are currently safe and receiving necessary attention. While the exact number of persons still unaccounted for is being verified and will be disclosed once confirmed, coordinated search and rescue operations, bolstered by intelligence-led tracking, are actively underway to apprehend the suspects and find the remaining abductees.
