A Magistrate's Court in Kano has ordered Nazifi Kafir Liringo to be held in a correctional facility following allegations that he killed his friend with a cutlass in Abuja. Liringo, who hails from Dambatta Local Government Area, appeared before Magistrate Court 27, situated in Nomans Land, where Magistrate Hauwa Abba Musa presided. He faces a charge of culpable homicide, an offense detailed under Section 222 of the Penal Code.

During the proceedings, Prosecutor Maryam Halilu Dantiye informed the court that this was a new charge and requested permission for it to be read to the defendant. The court’s clerk, Muhammad Musa Tudun Wada, proceeded to read the charge to Liringo. However, the hearing could not advance further because the court lacked the necessary jurisdiction to adjudicate the case.

Consequently, Magistrate Musa issued an order for Liringo’s remand in a correctional centre. The case has been adjourned, with the next hearing scheduled for October 6, 2026. Police investigations suggest that Liringo allegedly caused the death of his friend, Zaharaddin Adamu, by striking him with a cutlass. The incident reportedly occurred in Abuja while both individuals were engaged in cutting grass. Adamu is said to have succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the alleged attack.
