UK Court Order Curbs Misogynist Victor Valentine's Access to Women's Spaces, Internet

Victor Valentine, a 29-year-old resident of Cheltenham's St Paul's area in the United Kingdom, now faces stringent restrictions under a S3xual Harm Prevention Order. Police have characterized Valentine as holding misogynistic views and presenting a danger to women. The order, issued by Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on August 24, specifically prohibits him from entering or lingering around public female toilets and other spaces designated exclusively for women. Notably, these measures were put in place despite Valentine having no prior conviction for a s3xual offence.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Valentine openly identifies as a misogynist and participates in an online incel group. Furthermore, evidence presented highlighted his documented history of perpetrating unprovoked acts of violence against women in public settings. The court was also informed of his consistent failure to comply with the stipulations of various civil orders previously issued against him.

The S3xual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) serves as a legal instrument crafted to safeguard the public from s3xual harm. It achieves this by imposing limitations on the conduct of individuals identified as posing a potential risk.

This order, valid until August 25, 2031, places significant constraints on Valentine's digital activities. He is forbidden from operating any computer or internet-capable device unless he adheres strictly to specific police-mandated requirements. These include informing the police VISOR team within three days of acquiring any such device and subsequently registering it. The registered device must have the capability to store and present internet usage history, which must be preserved without any deletions. Additionally, location services must remain active on the device, with all location data intact. Valentine is also obliged to present the device for police inspection whenever requested and is restricted to owning only one internet-enabled device at any given time.

Furthermore, the order explicitly forbids Valentine from maintaining any registered guest or alias accounts on designated incel websites, or on any other online platforms, forums, chatrooms, or applications that advocate for or enable incel-related ideologies or content. Beyond his digital life, he is also barred from entering, utilizing, or lingering around any public female toilet, changing room, or any other space reserved solely for women, regardless of the reason. Non-compliance with these conditions carries severe penalties, potentially leading to his arrest and a jail term of up to five years.

Speaking on the development, Detective Sergeant Paul Howell, from Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Public Protection Unit, stated: “Valentine is well-known for his misogynistic hostility and violence towards women, and we are pleased to have secured this SHPO against him.” He emphasized the proactive nature of the order, adding: “Even though Valentine has not been convicted of any s3xual offences, this is a preventative measure to keep women and girls in the county safe from harm. This order will reduce Valentine’s ability to further explore his ideology and gives police the opportunity to monitor his behaviour in the community to help reduce his risk of further offending.” Detective Sergeant Howell concluded by reaffirming the Constabulary’s commitment, saying: “Tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG) is a priority for Gloucestershire Constabulary and we will do all we can to prevent crimes, bring offenders to justice, and protect women and girls.”
