Fatal Machete Assault at Lekki IMAX Cinemas Claims Two Lives

A tragic incident unfolded on Friday night, August 29, at the IMAX cinemas in Lekki, Lagos State, resulting in the confirmed deaths of two individuals. The calamity involved a man reportedly armed with both a machete and a knife.
Eyewitness accounts suggest the assailant, who appeared to be under the influence of illicit substances, attempted to gain entry into the cinema complex. His efforts were thwarted by the security personnel on duty. Confirming the unfortunate event to LIB, the command's spokesperson, SP Adebisi Abimbola, detailed that the attacker, believed to be destitute, allegedly stabbed one security guard fatally and inflicted injuries on another.
SP Adebisi further disclosed that the assailant himself met his end after being subjected to mob action by bystanders. In connection with the ongoing investigation, the Chief Security Officer of the cinema premises has been taken into custody. Authorities are actively working to retrieve and review CCTV footage from the location to identify any other persons who might have been involved in the violent episode. A full-scale inquiry into the matter has been officially launched.
