A disturbing incident has unfolded in Florida, where a mother of two was kidnapped and murdered by her boyfriend, a deputy with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. The tragic events began when the woman, whose name has not been released, returned home with her children, aged 9 and 12, from a trip to the beach on Monday, August 10. As they arrived, they were met by Deputy Troy Savetz, 47, who was waiting in the front yard. An argument ensued over a television that Savetz wanted back, prompting the woman to instruct her children to run inside and call 911 for help. However, Savetz seized her phone, preventing her from making the call. The children, following their mother's instructions, rushed inside and dialed 911. According to Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco, the 911 tape reveals the mother's concern for her children's safety, as she told them to save their lives and call for help. 'We listened to that 911 tape and we know that your mother said to go inside, save your lives and call 911,' Sheriff Nocco said during a press conference. 'Your mom is looking down from heaven, and she is so proud of you… You two did the right thing, you did exactly what your mom wanted you to do.' Despite the prompt response from law enforcement, the woman and Savetz were already gone by the time police arrived at the scene. They were later found dead in a rental car in Spring Hill, about 6 miles away from the woman's home. Both had succumbed to gunshot wounds. Savetz, who had served with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office for 14 years, was assigned to the marine unit. His actions have been condemned by Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, who stated that the moment Savetz committed the crime, he ceased to be a law enforcement officer and became a criminal. The investigation into the murder-suicide is ongoing. The woman's children are now in the care of their biological father, as they prepare to face life without their mother. As Sheriff Nocco poignantly noted, 'Those two children should be starting off this week getting ready for school. But what they’re getting ready for instead is a sad life without their mother.'
