Osun State Witnesses Bloody Cult Clash, Claims Three Lives

A recent outbreak of violence between rival cult groups in Osun State has resulted in the loss of three lives. According to reports from the Osun State Police Command, the clashes occurred around the Imo Area of Ilesa, involving suspected members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternities. The incident took place on Monday, August 11, at approximately 8:00 p.m. Upon receiving a distress call, the Commissioner of Police, Samuel Etaifo, who is in charge of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, swiftly deployed operatives from the Violence Crime Response Unit to the scene. In a statement issued by the command's Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, it was revealed that three individuals, identified as Idowu, Yinka, and Eja, were shot dead during the clashes. The police were able to recover four expended cartridges and two Android mobile phones from the scene. Preliminary investigations into the incident have commenced, with the command working to establish the circumstances surrounding the clash and identify all persons connected to it. The Commissioner of Police has directed the deployment of additional operatives to the area to prevent further escalation and restore calm. The police have also warned members of rival cult groups and other criminal elements against taking advantage of the incident to cause further violence, stating that anyone found engaging in cult-related violence or other criminal activities will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
