Abia Landlord Issues Warning After Alleged Assault of Five-Year-Old by Squatter

A recent incident in Abia State, where a 35-year-old man allegedly assaulted a five-year-old girl, has prompted a landlord to share crucial advice regarding tenant screening and property management. The landlord emphasized the critical need for property owners to maintain comprehensive records of their tenants and anyone residing on their premises.
The advice, shared online, highlighted several key measures landlords should take. These include obtaining detailed personal information such as tenants' pictures, bank details, and identification cards. The landlord also stressed the importance of having legal backing for tenancy documents and regularly checking on rented properties. Furthermore, they advised that if tenants decide to house additional individuals (squatters), landlords must insist on having full details for every single person or require them to vacate the property.
The cautionary message was directly linked to the alleged assault: "Na who them squat r@pe person wey dey 5 years oooooo. Shey una dey see am ba? Watch your environment too." The landlord's post also revealed a disturbing detail from the victim, stating, "Baby girl said he has been putting finger in her puna but she was scared to talk.” This incident underscores the severe risks associated with inadequate tenant vetting and the need for heightened vigilance within communities.
