Aid Worker Recounts Wife's Robbery Due to Husband's Pickup Refusal

Aid worker Ugama Steve has issued a strong caution to women, urging them to prioritize character over superficial attributes when choosing a life partner. Steve took to his Facebook page to recount a distressing incident where a woman fell victim to "one-chance" operators after her husband declined to pick her up from a motor park.
According to Steve's narrative, the woman, a mother of three, had traveled to Aba to purchase goods for her business. Upon her return to Abakaliki around 10 p.m., she contacted her husband, requesting a pickup from the park. However, the husband, who had already arrived home, flatly refused, instructing her to find a commercial tricycle (keke) instead. Steve emphasized that the husband was neither ill nor prevented by any obstacle from leaving his house. He simply chose not to go.
With no alternative, the woman boarded a keke, loading her merchandise into it. Unbeknownst to her, the tricycle operators were criminals. They proceeded to rob her of her mobile phone, all the cash she had, and the goods she had just bought, before forcefully pushing her out of the moving vehicle.
The husband, after waiting for an extended period without her arrival, attempted to call her phone, but received no response. He then reportedly got dressed and drove to the very park she had earlier pleaded with him to fetch her from, only to find she was not there.
Steve expressed his dismay at the husband's actions, questioning the lack of basic consideration for his spouse. He highlighted the danger of asking a wife to use public transport late at night in Abakaliki, a city known for its early closing hours. "What is marriage if you can't make the simplest of sacrifice for your partner?" Steve queried, pointing out that the woman was largely responsible for sustaining their family through the very business whose goods she had gone to procure.
He concluded his post by praying for the swift apprehension of the criminals and reiterated his belief that some men are capable of far better conduct, while others exhibit extreme meanness towards their wives. Steve's ultimate advice for women searching for a husband was to look beyond physical attractiveness, family background, blood group, or genotype. Instead, he advised them to spend time dating to truly understand a man's character and to avoid marrying someone with a heartless disposition.
