Nigerian Passport Operations Continue Uninterrupted, NIS Affirms

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has moved to reassure citizens nationwide that the provision of passport services remains fully active, contrary to any speculation about a suspension. This clarification comes after a recent shift involving the integration of more passport processing locations into the Central Personalization Centre. In an update shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, the Service clarified that this transition is a calculated administrative improvement designed to boost both the efficiency of passport production and overall security, not to halt services.

"The recent migration of additional passport branches to the Central Personalization Centre is a strategic administrative enhancement, rather than a suspension of services," the NIS reiterated. The agency further clarified that individuals applying for passports should continue to visit their allocated passport offices to complete their biometric data capture process smoothly and without any hitches.

The NIS emphasized that this new, centralized production model is specifically engineered to conform with international security benchmarks, optimize processing durations, and significantly enhance the security features of the Nigerian passport. Therefore, "Applicants can still visit their local centers to complete biometric data capture seamlessly," the Service confirmed.

Furthermore, the Immigration Service reassured the Nigerian public that all passport capturing facilities are fully functional. It also confirmed that the printing and dispatch of passport booklets are proceeding according to the usual timelines. "Citizens can rest assured that capturing centers remain fully operational, with physical booklets processed efficiently and returned to local commands within standard delivery windows," the statement concluded.
