Frank Warren Confirms Joshua Yet to Ink Fury Fight Deal

British boxing promoter Frank Warren has revealed that while Tyson Fury has officially put pen to paper for their anticipated heavyweight showdown, Anthony Joshua’s team is still delaying the finalization of their contract. The primary sticking point revolves around amending contractual clauses, specifically regarding the choice of venue for the mega-bout.

Initially, there was a consensus for a local British venue like Wembley Stadium. However, the event organizers, Saudi-backed Sela, along with broadcast partner Netflix, are now pushing for the fight to be hosted at Madison Square Garden in New York. Warren cautioned that the hold-up is solely with Joshua’s camp, stressing the urgency needed to move forward with this historic all-British encounter.

“The latest is Joshua's not signed yet,” Warren stated. “It's not for me to give him a deadline, it's the people who are paying the money. It's all this stuff, as I said from the beginning, it's about contracts. I know what the contracts say. The contracts have all got to be amended.”

Regarding Fury’s stance, Warren highlighted that the former heavyweight champion is prepared to fight irrespective of where the event takes place. “Tyson's signed. Tyson's done. He don't care when the fight takes place,” Warren added. “If they want it in New York, they want it in Barbados, they want it on the Isle of Wight, he's signed. He's done.”

Warren further explained that Fury had initially signed for the fight in January, with an original target date in September. However, due to adjustments in Joshua's fight schedule, the proposed window has now shifted to November. The ultimate confirmation of the fight hinges on resolving the outstanding venue and broadcasting terms within the contracts of all involved parties.
