PSG Talent Mbaye Joins Aston Villa in Reported £47 Million Switch

Full Story
English Premier League club Aston Villa has successfully completed the signing of Senegalese winger Ibrahim Mbaye from French champions Paris Saint-Germain. The transfer, officially announced on Tuesday, carries a reported value of £47 million, equivalent to approximately $63 million.
The 18-year-old Mbaye proved to be a significant asset for PSG during the previous season, making 31 appearances across all competitions. His contributions helped the Parisian outfit secure both the Champions League title and the Ligue 1 championship. His burgeoning talent also shone on the international stage, where he featured four times for Senegal at the recent World Cup. A notable highlight was his goal against France, a strike that made him the youngest African player ever to score in the men’s tournament. Mbaye has earned 15 caps for Senegal since making his debut for PSG at the tender age of 16.
Aston Villa expressed its enthusiasm for the new acquisition in an official statement. The club declared, “Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain.” They further elaborated, “The Senegal international, a bright and exciting young prospect who scored for his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, joins on a permanent transfer.” France-born Mbaye represents the latest addition to Villa’s squad.
This high-profile transfer occurs amidst a period of significant squad restructuring for the Premier League side. After triumphing in the Europa League last season, thereby ending a three-decade trophy drought, Villa has seen a number of key players depart. Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, Ollie Watkins, Lucas Digne, Emiliano Martinez, and Ezri Konsa have all been sold. However, manager Unai Emery has been proactive in reinforcing the team, bringing in new talents like Alejandro Garnacho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Johan Manzambi, Zion Suzuki, Joao Gomes, Leon Goretzka, Matteo Ruggeri, and Nicolas Jackson.
