Olympic long jump sensation, Tara Davis-Woodhall, has expressed profound gratitude for being alive following a severe car accident she was involved in while en route to a training session. The 27-year-old American athlete described the head-on collision, which occurred last week, as "very scary" and left her with a serious concussion.

Davis-Woodhall considers herself extremely fortunate to have escaped the incident without sustaining any major physical injuries, despite both vehicles involved being completely written off. Taking to social media on Thursday, she stated, "Luckily I walked away without any major injuries."

Currently, the reigning world champion is collaborating with her medical team and coaches to regain full health. However, she remains uncertain about her readiness to compete at the upcoming Ultimate Championships next week. "More updates to come," she added.

Despite the setback, Davis-Woodhall has not definitively ruled out participation in the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships, scheduled to commence on September 11 in Budapest. This three-day elite competition is set to feature a convergence of Olympic, world, and Diamond League titleholders, alongside other top-performing athletes globally. The victor of each event stands to claim a substantial prize of £111,000.

Having secured Olympic gold in the women’s long jump at the Paris 2024 Games and subsequently clinching the world title in Tokyo the following year, Davis-Woodhall's immediate priority has shifted to recovering from the crash and evaluating her fitness for the Budapest event.
