Spanish Midfielder Rodri Set to Ditch Manchester City for Barcelona

A significant development has emerged in the world of football, with Manchester City's Spanish midfielder, Rodri, reportedly agreeing to personal terms with Barcelona. This move is anticipated to take place in the summer, marking a potential end to Rodri's four-year stint at the Etihad. The 30-year-old has one year left on his contract with Manchester City, and it seems unlikely that he will extend his stay, having previously expressed a desire to return to his homeland. According to renowned transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Rodri has reached a verbal agreement with Barcelona, despite interest from Real Madrid. Romano took to social media platform X to break the news, stating: "Barcelona have fully agreed on personal terms with Rodri after contract proposal sent to his agent. Negotiations club to club to follow with Man City to advance on transfer fee and get the deal done ASAP." Since joining Manchester City in 2019, Rodri has amassed an impressive 298 appearances across all competitions, scoring 28 goals and providing 32 assists. His transfer value is estimated to be around €55 million, according to Transfermarkt. Rodri's illustrious career has seen him win several accolades, including the World Championship with the Spanish national team in 2026 and the European Championship in 2024. He also claimed the prestigious Ballon d'Or award in 2024.
