Promoter Frank Warren Anticipates November Showdown for Fury and Joshua

Frank Warren, the promoter for Tyson Fury, has revealed his expectation that the highly anticipated heavyweight boxing match featuring Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will take place in November this year. While early discussions considered Wembley Stadium in the UK as a potential venue, ongoing negotiations about global broadcast start times have strongly pointed towards a US location, such as Madison Square Garden in New York.

Speaking to Boxing Scene, Warren clarified that the official announcement and final arrangements are ultimately in the hands of His Excellency Turki Alalshikh. Warren mentioned that Wembley had been contacted by Sela regarding a possible delay in the fight time, but as far as he understood, this request was not granted.

Warren reiterated his promotional commitment to Tyson Fury but emphasized that it wasn't his place to formally disclose the details of the fight at this stage. He highlighted the significant anticipation surrounding the clash between the two prominent heavyweights, Fury and AJ, noting that everyone is eagerly awaiting the November announcement. In the interim, other fighters are vying for attention.

Reflecting on past bouts, Warren drew a parallel to Wladimir Klitschko's fight against AJ, noting that although AJ was in his prime and Klitschko was coming off a loss to Tyson, it was still a memorable contest. He mused about how a fight between Klitschko and AJ in their respective primes might have played out, suggesting Klitschko might have been favored.

Warren underscored that regardless of when such a fight could have ideally occurred, the present reality is what matters. He stressed that Fury and Joshua, who are only a year apart in age, are not only set to earn substantial sums but are also intensely driven to secure victory. "Neither wants to be the loser," Warren stated, adding that while some fighters might be perceived as past their peak, they often find inner strength. He believes both Fury and Joshua will need to "dig deep" when they face each other, driven by their strong desire to win, and the fight will reveal who wants it more. Warren personally favors Tyson to win, stating, "Me? I say all day long it is Tyson but we’ll find out when that first bell goes."
