Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the Governor of Ekiti State, recently extended his felicitations to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, as he marked his 70th birthday. Governor Oyebanji lauded Alake as a distinguished son of Ekiti, emphasizing how his varied contributions to national development have consistently brought pride to the state over the years.
In a statement released in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the governor highlighted Mr. Alake's significant role in advancing the 'Renewed Hope Agenda' for national development. This, Oyebanji noted, is evident through Alake's unwavering commitment to boosting Nigeria's non-oil revenue.
The governor further commended the minister's proven capabilities and substantial impact as an outstanding journalist and communicator, possessing considerable intellectual prowess. He acknowledged Alake's use of his professional platform to champion human rights and promote democratic principles.
Oyebanji specifically recognized Alake as one of the pivotal figures in the re-establishment of democracy in Nigeria, crediting his robust media advocacy during military rule, often at great personal risk. The governor also celebrated Alake's impressive career trajectory, which includes roles as a reporter, editor, media manager, administrator, and public servant. His notable positions include Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State and Special Adviser on Communication to the President, prior to his current ministerial appointment.
“Ekiti will always be proud of the minister for positively projecting the image of the state and contributing to its growth and development,” Governor Oyebanji stated. He offered prayers for the minister, wishing him a long life, sound health, and continued grace to make a significant impact in his service to Nigeria and humanity.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate my dear brother, the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, as he turns 70 today. We wish him a happy birthday and pray that God continues to sustain him with good health and wisdom to continue serving our dear country with greater distinction,” the governor concluded.
