Jigawa, Zamfara Emirs' Deaths Prompt Condolences from Northern Governors

The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) on Thursday conveyed its deep sorrow following the demise of two prominent traditional rulers: His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Sani II, the Emir of Gumel in Jigawa State, and His Royal Highness Alhaji Bello Sulaiman, the Emir of Zurmi in Zamfara State.

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State, who chairs the NSGF, expressed the collective condolences of the governors. This message was released by Ismaila Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at Gombe Government House.

In his tribute, Governor Yahaya described the passing of the Gumel Emir as a 'profound loss' for Jigawa State, the northern region, and Nigeria as a whole. He lauded the late monarch for his renowned wisdom, humility, dedication to peace-building, and unwavering commitment to the well-being and progress of his subjects. According to Yahaya, the late emir's tenure significantly bolstered the stability, unity, and advancement of the Gumel Emirate. "Throughout his years on the throne, the late royal father made significant contributions to the stability, unity and progress of the Gumel Emirate, leaving behind a legacy that would continue to inspire generations," the governor stated.

The NSGF chairman extended his heartfelt sympathies to the royal family, the people of Gumel Emirate, and the Jigawa State Government. He encouraged the royal family and the emirate's residents to uphold the values of peace, unity, service, and community development that were synonymous with the late ruler. Governor Yahaya offered prayers to Almighty Allah, asking for forgiveness for the late emir's shortcomings, acceptance of his good deeds, and granting him Aljannatul Firdaus.

Similarly, Governor Yahaya, representing the Northern governors, mourned the death of the Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Bello Sulaiman. He characterized the late emir as a 'respected custodian of tradition and a committed leader' who dedicated his five-year reign to ensuring the peace, unity, and welfare of his people. The governor emphasized that the death of the royal father represents a 'significant loss to the Zurmi Emirate, Zamfara State and the traditional institution in Northern Nigeria.'

Governor Yahaya also commiserated with the late emir’s family, the people of Zurmi Emirate, and the Zamfara State Government. He urged them to find strength in the positive influence and lasting legacy of the departed monarch. He concluded by praying to Almighty Allah to forgive the late Emir Sulaiman’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
