Wike: 'They'll Come for My Head' If Atiku, Obi Win 2027 Presidency

Full Story
Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, recently voiced his concerns, stating that he anticipates being the primary target should President Bola Tinubu not secure re-election in the 2027 presidential polls, particularly if either former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi emerges victorious. Despite his affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Wike has openly backed President Tinubu and confirmed his full understanding of the potential repercussions of his stance. During a recent media engagement, Wike emphatically declared, “I will be the first politician that I think they will come after. I will be the first politician. I know they will come for my head.”
Notwithstanding the potential political fallout, Wike affirmed his unwavering commitment to campaigning for and endorsing President Tinubu. He articulated his deep dedication, stating, “Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s reelection. When I am eating, I think about the president’s reelection. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s reelection.”
The former governor of Rivers State acknowledged the unusually severe criticism he has faced regarding his political allegiances. However, he insisted that he remains unfazed by the derogatory labels or the viewpoints of those who oppose him. Wike remarked, “I don’t see where anybody in this country today has been called names the way my name has been. I am not bothered about people who say their [own] thing. My business is, like I said, I am going to support Mr President.”
