Mr. Omoyele Olabode, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has publicly applauded the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his financial assistance to flood-affected residents in the state's Southern Senatorial District. This commendation follows a recent devastating flood incident in the senatorial district, which led to the displacement of numerous inhabitants across several communities within its six Local Government Areas.

Under his 'Flood Relief Palliative Sponsored initiative,' the Minister distributed cash to more than 1,000 victims. The coordination of this disbursement was handled by Mr. Kolade Akinjo, a former member of the House of Representatives. Akinjo reportedly stated that the intervention was designed to alleviate the financial burden placed on victims by the floods and provide direct monetary support to households struggling to recover from the disaster.

In a statement released on Thursday, Olabode affirmed that the minister's provision of direct cash transfers delivered much-needed relief to the affected individuals and their families residing in the impacted communities. The APC chieftain further noted that this timely intervention by the minister directly addressed the critical needs of the populace during a period of significant distress.

Olabode was quoted as saying, “This is a reflection of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the minister’s commitment to grassroots welfare across Ondo State. I salute and commend Dr Bunmi Tunji-Ojo for rising to the occasion at this critical time. The cash transfers have gone a long way in easing the pain of our people in Ondo South. It shows a leader who feels the pulse of his people and acts without delay. Such people-oriented initiatives will deepen public trust in the government, and strengthen the bond between the centre and the people of the Niger Delta coastal communities.”

Furthermore, Olabode called upon other political figures and benevolent Nigerians to replicate the minister's act of generosity by offering assistance to victims, particularly as the government escalates its efforts on sustained flood mitigation and drainage infrastructure development in the region. He also highlighted the immediate impact of the minister's aid, stating that even as residents await promised support and palliatives from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), “the support from BTO has come in handy and this is very commendable.”
