Obi, Kwankwaso Strategize with NDC Governorship Candidates for 2027 Polls

As the 2027 general elections draw near, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have engaged in a crucial meeting with the party's governorship candidates from Bauchi, Sokoto, and Borno states. The gathering, which took place at Kwankwaso's residence in Maitama, Abuja, was aimed at discussing campaign strategies and assessing the readiness of the candidates for the upcoming elections. In attendance were Ibrahim Kashim, the Bauchi governorship candidate; Dr. Shamsu Aliyu, the Sokoto candidate; and retired Admiral Sunusi Ibrahim, the Borno candidate. The meeting also saw the participation of other key party leaders, including Buba Galadima, the Kebbi State Chairman, and Alhaji Mustapha Umar, alongside Alhaji Bello Yabo, the Sokoto State Chairman. The NDC emphasized that the discussions centered on coordinated campaigns designed to secure victory for its candidates at all levels. This meeting is part of the NDC's intensified preparations for the 2027 elections, with a focus on enhancing coordination among its candidates and structures across the northern states. The Obi-Kwankwaso ticket was formally endorsed at the party's special convention in Abuja in May 2026.
