Osun Election: Dele Momodu Urges Opposition to Rally Behind Adeleke

Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress and the publisher of Ovation Magazine, has called on opposition parties in Osun State to put aside their differences and support Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 16. According to Momodu, unity among opposition parties is crucial to prevent the All Progressives Congress from taking advantage of their divisions to manipulate the election outcome. In a statement released on Tuesday, Momodu expressed his commitment to a broader coalition aimed at challenging the influence of the APC, which he believes has negatively impacted Nigeria's economy, social cohesion, and democratic institutions. He noted that the opposition had initially planned to present a strong alternative to the APC but faced challenges due to the clash of individual ambitions. Momodu emphasized that the current political situation in Osun State necessitates opposition parties to prioritize their common goal over personal interests. He argued that it would be unwise for opposition parties not to recognize the need for unity, especially given the APC's tactics in the state. Momodu urged opposition politicians to adopt a practical approach and support Adeleke, stating that a divided opposition would only benefit the APC. He believes that the Accord Party candidate is the best option for the opposition to challenge the APC's dominance in the state.
