Tinubu's Economic Reforms Earn Him Re-election Nod from Presidency

The Nigerian Presidency has voiced its support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, citing the administration's achievements in economic reforms and infrastructure development across the country. According to the Presidency, these accomplishments warrant Tinubu's return to office. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties, Tunde Rahman, made this assertion during an inspection of federal and state infrastructure projects in Nasarawa State. Rahman emphasized that the opposition's claims of the President's ineffectiveness are unfounded, pointing to tangible projects as evidence of the administration's progress. He highlighted iconic road projects, healthcare interventions, and bridges constructed by both the Federal Government and state governments as part of the benefits of Tinubu's reforms. Rahman noted that initial difficulties faced during the implementation of these reforms have given way to visible benefits, which are now being experienced by Nigerians. The opposition's criticisms were dismissed as denial in the face of overwhelming evidence, with Rahman citing the transformation of Benue and Nasarawa states into construction hubs as examples of the administration's successes. Both Governor Alia of Benue and Governor Sule of Nasarawa attributed their expanded project execution capabilities to the federal fiscal reforms. Rahman argued that the freeing of resources and increased fiscal space for state governments have enabled them to undertake more projects, demonstrating the positive impact of the Tinubu administration's policies. He appealed to Nigerians to consider the President's record when making their voting decisions in the next election. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Print Media, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, described the inspected projects as lasting legacies of the Tinubu administration, representing a revolution in public infrastructure. Abdulaziz emphasized that the removal of fuel subsidy has freed up resources, which are being reinvested into projects with tangible impacts on the lives of Nigerians. He cited the Makurdi-Otukpo-Enugu road corridor as an example of a project that has already reduced travel time and stimulated economic activity across Nasarawa, Benue, and Enugu states.
