Rabiu Kwankwaso, the National Democratic Congress's Vice-Presidential candidate and former Governor of Kano State, has extended his sympathies to Senator Baba Tela, the former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State. This follows the devastating loss of Tela's two children, Mustapha and Ummi, in a tragic road accident. Kwankwaso conveyed his heartfelt message via a statement shared on his verified X account on Monday.

The incident was described by Kwankwaso as a profound tragedy, causing immense sorrow not only for the bereaved family but also for the Katagum Emirate and the entire populace of Bauchi State. He wrote, "I extend my deepest condolences to the former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, on the tragic loss of his children, Mustapha and Ummi, in a fatal road crash." He further noted that the unfortunate event had cast "a heavy shadow of sorrow over the Katagum Emirate and the entire Bauchi State." Kwankwaso offered prayers for the grieving family and expressed solidarity with the Bauchi State Government and its citizens. He affirmed, "My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family, the government, and the good people of Bauchi State at this difficult time."

Mustapha and Ummi tragically lost their lives on Saturday in a road mishap along the Bauchi–Azare Road. They were reportedly returning from Azare when the accident occurred.

In the wake of the tragedy, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed also offered his condolences to Senator Tela. Governor Mohammed prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased souls and urged the family to find comfort in divine will. He also extended his sympathy to others who sustained injuries in the crash, wishing them a swift recovery.

Similarly, former Senate President Bukola Saraki joined in mourning the loss, labeling the incident as "painful." Saraki prayed for Allah's mercy on Mustapha and Ummi and for the family to be granted the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
