The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced on Sunday the formation of a reconciliation committee. This body, comprising respected elder statesmen and prominent citizens, has been tasked with addressing a range of grievances and complaints raised by aspirants and other crucial stakeholders following the party's recent primaries. This proactive step is aimed at fostering unity and mending fences in anticipation of the 2027 general elections within the state.

According to a statement released by the state Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, from Ibadan, the state capital, the committee's membership includes notable figures such as Senators Olufemi Lanlehin, Brimo Yusuf, and Hosea Agboola. Other members are former party chairman Chief Akin Oke, former Head of Service of the Federation Professor Afolabi Oladapo, Idris Adeoye, Pa Timothy Jolaoso, and Olukemi Alao-Akala, the widow of the late Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala. Adebayo Adewusi, Gunju Ojo, and Adekemi Opatunde are also on the list.

Further committee members include presidential spokesman Sunday Dare, Abisoye Fagade, Kamorudeen Ajisafe, Abu Gbadamosi, Isiaka Alimi, Niran Adeyoju, Yinka Folarin, Emmanuel Olaoye, Mufutau Adisa, Sule Ajibade, Professor Abideen Olaiya, and Dayo Lawal. Ibrahim Bolomope, Mabel Williams, Jelili Agboola, Kehinde Oloya, Goke Oyetunji, Ramota Okemakinde, Raji Rasaki, Segun Ajanaku, Shakiru Fagunwa, Abduwaheed Lawal, Esther Adedokun, and Obatunde Oladapo complete the extensive list.

This week, the state chairman of the party and former deputy governor, Moses Adeyemo, is scheduled to inaugurate the committee. Its core mandate is to engage with all individuals who procured “expression of interest and nomination forms of the APC from Oyo” but were ultimately unsuccessful in securing the party’s tickets for various elective positions. The PUNCH earlier reported that the state APC governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, officially received his Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form on Thursday, June 2, 2026, where he also unveiled Adesoji Adedeji as his running mate for the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial contest.

Sadare elaborated that following its inauguration, the reconciliation committee would be tasked with meeting all relevant stakeholders, including aspirants who are dissatisfied with the outcomes of the recent primaries that determined the APC candidates for the next general elections. He expressed optimism, stating, “It is hoped that this effort would bring about the desired peace and unity for our great party to win big at the polls next year.”
