Yobe Police Nab 13-Year-Old After Fatal Stabbing in Damaturu

Authorities in Yobe State have apprehended a 13-year-old male in connection with the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Adamu Bukar Tamba in Damaturu. According to ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu, the Police Command's spokesperson, the tragic event unfolded on September 10, 2026, stemming from an altercation involving the suspect, Umar Suleiman, and the deceased, Adamu.

The incident came to light after Bukar Tamba, the victim's father, lodged a formal complaint at the ‘B’ Divisional Headquarters in Damaturu. ASP Aliyu further detailed that upon receiving the report, police detectives swiftly moved to the scene, where they discovered Adamu Bukar Tamba critically injured and lying in a pool of his own blood. He was immediately transported to the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu, for urgent medical attention, but was regrettably pronounced dead by medical personnel shortly after.

The police statement, as released by ASP Aliyu, provided further details: "On 10th September 2026, one Bukar Tamba 'M' of Maduri Ward, Damaturu, reported at the ‘B’ Divisional Headquarters, Damaturu, that his son, one Adamu Bukar Tamba 'M' 19 yrs of the same address, had been st@bbed with a knife by one Umar Suleiman 'M' 13yrs of the same address.” The statement continued, outlining the subsequent police actions: "Upon receipt of the report, detectives attached to the Division immediately mobilised to the scene, where they found the victim in a pool of blood. He was promptly evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu, for medical attention. However, while receiving treatment, he was confirmed d3ad by the attending medical doctor. The suspect was arrested and is currently in Police custody."

The preliminary inquiry, according to the police, indicates that the fatal encounter transpired during a heated argument between the two individuals. The Yobe State Police Command has assured the public that "Investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.”
