Klitschko Launches Legal Bid to Protect Daughter's Inheritance from Panettiere's Estate

Wladimir Klitschko, the renowned former heavyweight boxing champion and current Mayor of Kyiv, has initiated legal proceedings in California. This action follows the passing of his former fiancée, actress Hayden Panettiere. On September 24, Klitschko submitted an urgent petition seeking temporary guardianship over Panettiere's estate, primarily to safeguard the interests of their 11-year-old daughter, Kaya. He contends that, according to California probate regulations, all assets from the estate rightfully belong to their daughter.

Within the legal document, Klitschko raised serious alarms regarding unaccounted-for possessions. He stated that he had been made aware of personal effects and jewelry from Panettiere's estate going missing. He explicitly warned of "a high probability that property belonging to Hayden's Estate may be lost, damaged or dissipated before a duly appointed personal representative can be in place to protect it."

Furthermore, the court filings revealed that Panettiere had previously voiced documented security anxieties prior to her demise, specifically concerning an unauthorized person accessing her residence. Klitschko emphasized these concerns, stating, “It is expected that the individual will continue to try and misappropriate property belonging to Hayden's estate. Given the high publicity of Hayden's estate, a personal representative needs to be appointed immediately to safeguard and protect Hayden's home and contents.”

Hayden Panettiere was discovered unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16. Emergency responders attempted resuscitation, but their efforts proved futile, and she was declared deceased at the location at the age of 36. Later, the Greenville County Coroner's Office concluded that her death was an accidental overdose, attributing it to fentanyl combined with other prescription medications.

A court hearing has since been slated to deliberate on Klitschko's emergency petition for guardianship, specifically aimed at ensuring the preservation of the estate's assets.
