Chrisean Rock's PPV Fight Livestreamed by Blueface Lands Him in Court

Popular rapper Blueface is currently embroiled in a federal lawsuit, facing accusations of copyright infringement for allegedly broadcasting Chrisean Rock’s recent pay-per-view boxing match to a large audience. The lawsuit, filed by boxing promoter Skyy Myles and streaming service BLK Prime Boxing, claims Blueface illegally streamed Rock’s boxing debut on his verified Kick channel.

The fight, which saw Rock defeat Ku’Shiyah Williams, was exclusively available through BLK Prime’s pay-per-view platform for a fee of $29.99. According to the complaint, Blueface, alongside music manager Wack 100, streamed the event for over an hour on the rapper's Kick channel without obtaining the necessary authorization from the rights holders.

Plaintiffs contend that tens of thousands of individuals viewed this unauthorized stream, potentially depriving the official broadcaster and promoter of substantial pay-per-view revenue. The lawsuit further alleges that Blueface not only acknowledged his actions but also linked his decision to a financial disagreement involving Chrisean Rock. Additionally, the filing states that the rapper purportedly encouraged his viewers to bypass purchasing the official broadcast and instead watch the fight for free via his stream.

Charles Lew, attorney for Chrisean Rock, strongly condemned the alleged actions. He stated, “In my entire career, I have never seen such a blatant and brazen disregard for copyright.” Lew emphasized the audacious nature of the alleged infringement, adding, “They didn't just take our clients' broadcast, they announced it live and told people not to pay. We look forward to the successful enforcement of our clients' well-established rights.”

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages to cover alleged lost sales, profits, and other earnings stemming from the unauthorized broadcast, in addition to the recovery of their legal expenses. It is important to note that these claims are allegations within a civil lawsuit, and no court has yet made a finding establishing Blueface’s liability. As of the original report, representatives for Blueface had not responded to requests for comment.
