FCT CP Sanusi Demands Pre-Operation Notification from Igboho's Iru Ekun Network

Full Story
Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, has called on the Iru Ekun Security Network to enhance its cooperation with law enforcement bodies and ensure prior notification to the police before undertaking any security operations. This directive was issued by CP Sanusi on Saturday, during a meeting held at his Abuja office. He met with Segun Olufadeju, widely known as Aluwaye, who serves as the FCT coordinator for the security group, along with members of his team.
A statement released by Sunday Igboho’s media office indicated that the police commissioner emphasized the critical role of collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security organizations for successful community policing initiatives and preventing criminal activities. While commending the network for its efforts, Sanusi underscored the importance of informing relevant security bodies, especially the divisional police commands within their operational zones, about any planned crime prevention or detection activities before they are executed. The gathering was characterized as a move aimed at bolstering the existing synergy between the police and the security network, with the ultimate goal of combating crime and fostering peace.
In related news, the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police has called on community leaders to assist in curtailing cult-related violence. Separately, a power outage reportedly disrupted services at an Abuja hospital, and the Federal Government, alongside the Niger Basin Authority, is advocating for accelerated water projects.
Meanwhile, Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, who founded the Iru Ekun Security Network, expressed his appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, for his support towards the security group. Igboho further stated that the outfit’s collaboration with various security agencies has been instrumental in its reported successes in addressing issues such as abductions, banditry, and conflicts between farmers and herders. He quoted, saying, “We are always ready to partner with relevant stakeholders in the security sector in further driving peace, protecting communities against hoodlums and other criminals posing a threat to our people, most especially law-abiding Nigerians in the South West.” Igboho also acknowledged the contributions of several other security figures whom he identified as supporters of the network, including the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and the Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi.
Earlier in the meeting, Olufadeju had given an assurance that the Iru Ekun group would maintain communication and involve the FCT police concerning its operational activities.
