The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the apprehension of four individuals implicated in the alleged defilement of three minors, aged 10, 11, and 12, as well as the alleged r*pe of a vulnerable adult. SP Nafiu Habib, the command's spokesperson, conveyed this information in a statement issued on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The reported incidents occurred between October 8 and 10, 2026, spanning various areas including Ningi, Katagum, Shira, and the Bauchi metropolitan region.

The official police statement emphasized the Command's sustained commitment to combating s*xual and gender-based violence (SGBV) across the state. It detailed the arrests of four male suspects for distinct offenses encompassing r*pe, defilement, and s*xual exploitation involving both minors and a person with a disability, with cases recorded in Ningi, Katagum, Shira, and Bauchi Metropolitan areas.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), one of the cases involved a 10-year-old girl who was allegedly defiled by a 50-year-old neighbor in Ningi Local Government Area. The report filed on October 9, 2026, at approximately 1:30 PM, by the father from Gadar Maiwa Village, Ningi LGA, stated that his neighbor, Musa Ibrahim, alias Musa Fawa, aged 50, lured his daughter into a guinea corn farm behind their homes and defiled her. The victim received medical examination at General Hospital Ningi, which confirmed s*xual assault. Musa Fawa has been arrested and has reportedly confessed to the crime.

In a separate incident reported on October 9, 2026, around 1:00 PM, a father from Unguwar Makafi, Azare, informed authorities that Yakubu Musa, 20, of Layin Da'u Mai Itace, Azare, had previously enticed his 11-year-old daughter into an empty classroom at Bakoshi Primary School, Azare, in September and October 2026, where he engaged in unlawful carnal knowledge with her. The victim was taken to General Hospital Azare for medical assessment. Yakubu Musa is currently in custody and has admitted to the offense.

Furthermore, on October 8, 2026, at about 10:00 AM, a father residing in Dago Village, Shira LGA, reported to the Yana Division that Abdullahi Sule, 40, also from Dago Village, had carnal knowledge of his 12-year-old daughter. Investigations revealed that Sule had lured the victim on four separate occasions, offering her N500 each time. The girl has since been rescued and is receiving medical attention. Abdullahi Sule has also been arrested.

In an unrelated incident, John Madaki, a 55-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the alleged r*pe of a 20-year-old woman with an intellectual disability. SP Habib stated that the woman’s parents filed a report on October 10, alleging that Madaki lured their daughter, gave her N1,000, and subsequently had s*xual intercourse with her. The couple reported on October 10, 2026, around 12:35 PM, that Madaki, from their same address, had enticed their daughter, described as being of unsound mind, by offering her N1,000 before having carnal knowledge of her. Madaki was arrested, and the victim was transported to the Police Clinic Bauchi for medical examination.

CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the Commissioner of Police, mni psc(+), strongly condemned these reprehensible and inhumane acts. He has directed the immediate transfer of all these cases to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution. The Command reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy for s*xual and gender-based violence, especially against minors and vulnerable individuals, assuring the public that justice will be served. The public, particularly parents and guardians, were urged to remain vigilant over their children and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station.
