Ondo Cocoa Farmer Found Lifeless on His Plantation

The lifeless body of Ajibade Kehinde, a 52-year-old farmer, was discovered on his cocoa plantation situated at Alani Camp, near Supare in Ondo State's Akoko South-West Local Government Area. Kehinde had set out for his farm on Thursday, September 3, 2026, but did not return home as expected, prompting concern among his family.

His worried relatives, alongside other community residents, initiated a search for him. His remains were subsequently located along a path leading to the farm. Sources familiar with the incident, as reported by DailyTrust, indicated suspicion that the farmer might have been targeted by criminals believed to be active in the vicinity. However, the presence of some of his harvested farm produce at the scene has introduced uncertainty regarding the actual motive behind the assault and whether any items were indeed stolen.

Following the grim discovery, police officers, under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer, visited the site. They then transported the body to Iwaro General Hospital, where a medical doctor officially confirmed his de@th. The deceased's body has since been placed in the hospital’s mortuary, awaiting an autopsy. Detectives have commenced a thorough investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to Kehinde's de@th.

Confirming these developments, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the command has launched a comprehensive inquiry into the matter. He assured the public that law enforcement would pursue every available lead to uncover the truth and ensure that those responsible for the de@th face justice.
