The Nigerian Army has successfully secured the release of Mrs. Adonkie, wife of retired Brigadier General Basil Adonkie, following her abduction from her residence in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, September 1. Immediately after her disappearance, troops from the Guards Brigade and the Army Headquarters Garrison initiated a swift, coordinated operation to track down the abductors.

Acting on reliable intelligence, the military personnel pursued the kidn*ppers through the Aco Estate–Goza Community axis, eventually making contact with the criminal group. The sustained pressure from the troops reportedly compelled the abductors to abandon their victim and flee into nearby bushes. Mrs. Adonkie was subsequently rescued safely at Angwan Sabo Village.

The Army intensified its pursuit along the Aco Estate–Angwan Sayawa axis, deploying additional troops to establish roadblocks and cut off potential escape routes. In a follow-up operation conducted the following day, Wednesday, September 2, troops intercepted and apprehended two individuals suspected to be members of the kidn*pping syndicate. These arrests occurred near Gaube Village within the Kuje Area Council.

The operation also led to the recovery of significant items, including an AK-47 assault rifle, one magazine, and nineteen rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. The Army confirmed that extensive clearance and tracking operations are continuing across the area, with the aim of apprehending any remaining members of the syndicate.
