Troops Foil Explosives Transport in Zamfara, Seize 180 Super Power Explosives

In a significant breakthrough, troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully intercepted a large cache of explosives being transported by a suspected courier in Zamfara State. The operation, which took place on Friday, involved routine snap checks on vehicles by troops of Sector 2, leading to the apprehension of 57-year-old Sani Umar. Umar, who was moving the explosives from Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State to suspected terrorist elements in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, had 180 units of 20mm Super Power explosives in his possession. According to Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the explosives were recovered following a thorough search of Umar's vehicle. The suspect, the vehicle, and the recovered explosives are currently in custody for further investigation. This development comes as troops are intensifying their offensive operations against terrorist elements in the region. In a related operation, troops engaged terrorists in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, resulting in the killing of two suspected terrorists and the recovery of two rifles, two magazines, nine rounds of ammunition, and two motorcycles. The military has stated that these operations demonstrate the sustained offensive posture of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, aimed at targeting terrorist enclaves and disrupting their logistics networks. The Theatre Command has reiterated its commitment to continuing these offensive operations to deny terrorists and other criminal elements the freedom to operate across the North West.
