A devastating attack by bandits has left a soldier and a police officer dead in Kasuwar Daji District, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The assault, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 2, 2026, around 1:40am, saw the bandits firing indiscriminately as they moved from house to house, allegedly targeting specific individuals. According to residents, the attackers outnumbered and outgunned the security personnel, despite the efforts of soldiers, police, and local vigilantes to repel the attack. Inuwa Giranto, a resident, described the scene as chaotic, with women and children screaming for help and livestock running wildly. 'It was like the end of the world,' he said. The bandits, after overpowering the security forces, retreated into a nearby forest with an unspecified number of abducted residents. While residents claim that over 70 people were taken, the exact figure has not been confirmed by security authorities. This attack is the latest in a series of assaults on Kaura Namoda, which suffered similar incidents in the past few days, including an attack on the residence of Dr. Aminu Yusuf, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, where his security guard was killed and several residents were abducted. The rector and his family, along with other victims, were later rescued by troops.
