Katsina State Sees Success as Troops Liberate Abductee, Recover Stolen Livestock

In a series of operations conducted by Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, significant successes have been recorded in the fight against terrorism and banditry in Katsina State. According to a statement released by Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West), on Tuesday, troops collaborated with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps to respond to a distress call regarding terrorist activity in Karkata Village, Charanchi Local Government Area, on July 26. Upon engaging the terrorists, the troops forced them to abandon their captive, leading to the successful rescue of the kidnap victim, who was subsequently reunited with her family unharmed. In a separate operation, troops worked alongside personnel from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to conduct raids in Wagin, Tundu Mobi, and Chadawaki communities within the Batsari Local Government Area. This coordinated effort resulted in the arrest of suspects and the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm, loaded with five cartridges, as well as other exhibits. The suspects and the recovered items were handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation. Furthermore, acting on credible intelligence, troops laid an ambush along a suspected terrorist route at Yankwani Village in the Bakori Local Government Area, intercepting terrorists who were attempting to move rustled livestock. The suspects fled under military pressure, abandoning 126 livestock, which included 83 cows and 43 sheep. These recovered animals were handed over to the Chairman of the Peace Keeping Committee in Bakori, in the presence of local government officials, for identification and return to their rightful owners.
